Rinnai Gas Fires Heating & Split Systme Service & CO Testing Melbourne
Maureen contacted us to have her space heater and gas ducted system both serviced. Our licensed plumber went out to see Maureen and inspected her Rinnai Space heater. After cleaning the 20 year old heater and ensuring that it was running smoothly, our plumber did a carbon monoxide test.
The test came back confirming that there was a carbon monoxide leak coming from the system. He then ran the heater for 20 minutes and tested again, which read that the carbon monoxide levels had risen. He immediately turned off the heating system, as it is not safe for any levels of carbon monoxide to be present.
The importance of having your system checked for carbon monoxide leaks is imperative. An article from ABC News recounted the day a Tasmanian woman ‘came close to losing [her] life.” The article explains how the Tasmanian family turned on their wood heater for the first time in 6 months, within a couple of hours the family started to feel “light headed”, including her two year old son “lost consciousness.” The Ambulance and Fire brigade were called and able to bring the toddler back to consciousness. The family were extremely fortunate that day, as if the mother put herself and her son to bed thinking they were just tired, Her husband may have come home to “find [them] all unresponsive.” The family have now installed carbon monoxide readers in their homes as a preventative check to carbon monoxide leaks.

Maureen was informed about the system being turned off until it had further repairs. Luckily, Maureen has another system that she can use to keep her warm, whilst the Rinnai system is being repaired. Maureen was so impressed with our services she went out of her way to send us a review;
“I would just like to say thank you for all the help with my heating problems as I told your man I have really had bad experiences with tradies repairing my heating and cooling, which is why I never called earlier. I would recommend you to anyone. I know that some of us older ladies can be a bit of a pain because we have been treated badly, so thank you for treating me with respect.”
